Can I tap my sump pump into the sewer?
No. It is illegal according to Village, State and DEC to tap into sewer lines with a sump pump. Talk to the DPW if you have questions.
When is trash picked up?
Every Thursday, unless it is a holiday then it is the following day. Recycling is once a month on the Thursday that falls in the week of the 21st. You can always take your recyclables to the City if once a month is not enough.
Where do I get my dog licensed?
Dogs are licensed in the Town of Hornellsville, 1 Park Dr. in Arkport. Cats are licensed in North Hornell at Village Hall.
Who do I call if I have a question about my assessment?
Call Katherine Gabriele at the Town of Hornellsville. She can answer all your questions and help to
lower your assessment if possible. If not, grievance day is the last Tuesday in the month of May. Village hall mails out the Village taxes June 1st.
Do I need a building permit to put up a fence?
Yes!
Please call Village hall and we will give you all the necessary paperwork and put you in touch with the code enforcement officer. Not everything needs a permit, but it is best to check with us first.
What do I do if my water is dirty?
We recommend that you first call the City of Hornell water department. They handle all water issues . It is also a good idea to let us know if and where there is a problem in the Village.
Does the Village have leaf pickup in the fall?
Yes we do!
When are Village Board meetings held?
On the second Monday of every month. If it falls on a holiday, it will usually be on the following day. Changes are posted on the website.
